Board of Education of Frederick County meetings will be temporarily switching to a mostly virtual format to accommodate construction inside the Board and Control Rooms located at 191 S. East St.
The Board and Control Rooms are scheduled to undergo modernization this year, including the installation of new audio and video equipment, to replace dated infrastructure utilized since the building opened in 2010.
While construction takes place, the Board Room will not be accessible for meetings. Thus, the Board will meet virtually, beginning with the Wednesday, February 28 meeting and continuing through the Wednesday, May 1 meeting with one exception: The Wednesday, April 10 meeting will be in person at Frederick Community College.
All scheduled in-person Board committee meetings will also move to a virtual format starting Thursday, February 15.
The Board’s next meeting, scheduled for Wednesday, February 14, will take place in the Board Room.
The following Board meetings are scheduled to be virtual:
- Wednesday, February 28
- Wednesday, March 13
- Wednesday, March 27
- Wednesday, May 1
The following Board meeting is scheduled to be in-person at Frederick Community College:
The FCC meeting will take place in Rooms H202 and H203 at the Student Center in the H Building. FCC is located at 7932 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick.
Due to technology constraints, the meeting at FCC will not be televised live or livestreamed. It will be recorded and shared via FCPS TV within three business days.
The Board will follow the same meeting schedule, with a Work Session beginning at 3 p.m. and the general meeting beginning at 6 p.m. Visitors are welcome to log into the virtual meetings.
The Board values public comment as an opportunity to hear from the public.
Board meetings will continue to air on FCPS-TV and will also be livestreamed online.
The Board appreciates the community’s flexibility on these temporary adjustments as FCPS moves forward with modernization efforts that will benefit all who use the Board Room in future years.
