Lincoln Elementary Celebrates New Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation STEM Center

Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation STEM Centers give students chances to explore science, technology, engineering and mathematics activities in a dynamic and interactive environment.
Lincoln Elementary’s new center features STEM equipment at student workstations, providing students with opportunities to explore activities that encourage creativity, teamwork, and practical problem-solving.
FCPS celebrated the new STEM Center – the seventh in FCPS – at a school-based event November 17 attended by system and community leaders. It culminated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
“I am grateful for this wonderful resource that can empower Lincoln students to learn more about science, technology, engineering and mathematics,” FCPS Superintendent Dr. Cheryl L. Dyson said. “This will give students a unique and collaborative opportunity to cultivate skills that will help them in their educational learning journeys.”
The Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation has established more than 790 STEM Centers nationwide to encourage curiosity and learning through hands-on engagement.
“It’s been incredible to see the enthusiasm and imagination these centers spark in young students,” Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation President and CEO Steve Salem said. “Working alongside FCPS and Digital Infrastructure, we’re helping create opportunities that will empower kids in Frederick to see themselves as innovators and problem-solvers.”
The Lincoln Elementary STEM Center is now open to students, with teachers incorporating new resources into both classroom and after-school programs.
“We are honored to partner with Frederick County Public Schools to provide students with this exciting new STEM learning space,” said Martin Romo, senior director of economic development and external affairs at Rowan. “At Rowan, we are committed not only to advancing digital infrastructure but also to strengthening communities across Frederick County by investing in the workforce of tomorrow.”
